Winter Trimester Projects
For the recital on February 29, 2024 (hall reserved 5:30 - 8pm),
students may choose one of these activities:
Original Composition : The students may elect to enter their composition in the state contest.
If so, the finished composition must be MAILED by March 1, 2023.
As important as creating works of art and writing stories is to a child's imaginative development,
students describe a character, mood or musical idea using their knowledge of music
and notate it using their musical theory 'tricks of the trade'!
Admittedly, this project is a lot of work, but the sense of satisfaction makes it so worthwhile.
Congratulations to past MMTA Composition Winners:
1st place - Stella Hangebrauck
2nd place - Kyle Nuttleman and Ryan Nuttleman
3rd place - Adelaide McGreevy and James Hicks
To see what is possible for students pursuing this project,

Spring Trimester
The spring recitals feature popular solos and duets and will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2023.
(We have the hall reserved from 5:30 - 8.)
Another significant element in the spring recitals is that 8th graders
are invited to be the “Feature Student” for the evening.
They perform 15 minutes of repertoire at the end of the recital
to showcase all that they have accomplished - perfect training for Senior Recitals!
This year, we will feature Adelaide McGreevy & Kyle Nuttleman.
Senior Recitals are encouraged, but not required for graduating seniors.
It’s a fun opportunity to share their love and enjoyment of music with family and friends.
Although Senior Recitals most often only feature one student(& perhaps some friends for chamber music/duets),
students may prefer to share a recital with someone else.
This year, we will have no seniors; we look forward to two Seniors in 2025!

Below, you will see details of a few of our past seniors who gave these milestone recitals.
Zdenek Kratky was in the studio for seven years and gave his Senior Recital in June of 2022. Although piano will always be part of his life, he is currently enrolled in a biology/pre-med track program at Georgia Tech.
The Richardson legacy began in 2005 when Jesse joined the studio.
Seven years later, before he left for the CA Institute of the Arts, he gave his Senior Recital. (photo to the right).
A few years later, Troy took to the stage at the Perpich Center for the Arts for his Senior Recital (photo below left) before starting at Loyola University, from which he graduated with a double major (piano performance and biology).
Finally, in the midst of the 2020 pandemic, Chloe brought the whole family for her Senior Recital using their own grand piano. Despite any obstacles, the show must go on! Check out Chloe's video: https://youtu.be/4aRYvF1Cjm4.
